How do I reserve a park shelter house?
Contact City Hall to check availability of dates and to be added to the shelter house calendar.
When does the swimming pool open?
Check the information on the City website for specific pool opening dates. The pool is generally open Memorial Day weekend through Mid-August.
What are hours of operation for the swimming pool?
Regular open swimming hours for the pool are noon to 6:00 pm daily.

How do I reserve the swimming pool for a private party?

When are summer swim lessons scheduled?
Specific information on swim lessons can be found on the City website under pools/park.

Are there adult swim programs?
Adult water aerobics are available at the Rossville swimming pool Tues and Thursdays from 6pm to 7pm.
Can I reserve a space at the campground?
The City of Rossville does not have a designated campground in the City Park, but does allow overnight camping if approved by the mayor or city council. Cost for overnight parking permit is $5 per day and does include use of available utilities. Contact City Hall in advance for permit.
Do you have 50-amp plugs at the City Park?
Yes some 50 amp plugs are available throughout the City Park.
Is cable TV available at the park?
No

Are there any buildings in City Park available to rent?
The shelter house in the City Park can be reserved for special events. Contact City Hall for availability of dates.
Is there a dump station near the campground?

Can you reserve the picnic shelters at any of the city parks?
The shelter house in the City Park can be reserved for special events. Contact City Hall for availability of dates.
Are dogs allowed in the parks?
Animal exercise areas are designated in the City Park.
Where can I find out about special recreation events in the city?
The City website has information about events scheduled at the City Park and the Swimming Pool as well as the events scheduled at Joe Campbell Memorial stadium or you can contact City Hall for information on events.
How do I register for recreation activities?
Enrollment applications for Rossville Community Recreation Association are available on City website or at City Hall.
Does the city have facilities available to rent for special occasions?
The City Park shelter house can be reserved for special events and the party room at the Buhler Recreation Center (Swimming Pool) may be rented for special occasions. Call City Hall for more information on reservations.
Where are the parks located in the city?
The City Park is located at Main and Parkway on the South edge of Rossville next to the swimming pool and Joe Campbell Memorial Stadium and in close proximity to the Rossville High School. Terry L Andrick Memorial Park is located at Main and East Perry Street.

What is the age cut off for city baseball and softball?
The Rossville Community Recreation Association offers baseball and softball programs for ages 5 to 18 years of age.
How do I receive the early registration discount?
A $20.00 late fee will be assessed on all applications received after the registration deadline.
How do I know if practice for a specific youth sport is cancelled?
You would need to contact your team coach to determine if practice is cancelled
What are city parks hours?
The City Park, except for the tennis courts, close one hour after sunset. Organized events, which have written approval of the City, may remain after sunset. Andrick Memorial Park closes at sunset.
What are the registration dates for city youth sports?
The Rossville Community Recreation Association 2013 summer ball program registration deadline is Friday, March 15, 2013
What are the costs for participating in youth recreation programs?
Rossville Community Recreation Association 2013 fees are $50 for one child; $90 for two children; $110 for three children and $130 for four or more children.
Where do I find recreation registration and program information?
Program and registration information can be found on the City website and at the Rossville City Hall, 438 Main Street.
What happens when recreation program registrations are submitted after the deadline?
Registrations will be accepted for a short time after the deadline but will include at late fee.
How do I sign up to receive email recreation program updates? At this time the Rossville Community Recreation Association does not provide updates by email.

If I am involved in an accident do I have to make a report?
A couple of questions you need to ask yourself are:  Is the damage over $1000 and/or is there an injury?  If those apply….then yes.  If it is under $1000 and on private property….then no.

What are the curfew hours for juveniles?
It shall be unlawful for any minor under 18 years of age to loiter, idle, wander, stroll, play in or be upon the public streets, highways, roads, alleys, parks, playgrounds, or other public grounds, public places, public buildings, or places of amusement or entertainment, or vacant lots or other unsupervised places within the city between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 6:00 a.m. the following day. The provisions of this section shall not apply to such minors when accompanied by his or her parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of the minor, or when a minor is upon an emergency errand or lawful duty or employment directed by his or her parent, guardian, or other adult having the care and custody of the minor, or when attending school functions and other activities under the supervision of school authorities or organizations sponsored by parent and be upon the streets of the city while returning home from any such function or activity. Are door to door sales legal in the city?
Yes but only if they have been approved by City Hall for a permit.
Can I shoot an air gun, air rifle, bow and arrow, slingshot, bb gun or paint ball gun within the City limits?
No

When can a child drive with a Restricted License?

If under age 16, may drive at any time:

  • To/from or in connection with any job, employment or farm-related work
  • Over the most direct and accessible route between home and school for the purpose of attendance
  • When accompanied by an adult* in front seat who holds a valid driver’s license
  • During this time:
    • Must complete additional 25 hours of supervised driving (10 of the 50 hours total must be at night)
    • NO non-sibling minor passengers are allowed
    • NO wireless communication device while driving except to report illegal activity or to summon emergency help

If over age 16, first 6 months, may drive at any time:

  • From 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • To/from or in connection with any job, employment or farm-related work
  • To/from authorized school activities or religious worship service held by a religious organization
  • When accompanied by an adult* in front seat who holds a valid driver’s license
  • During this time:
    • One non-immediate family member minor passenger (less than 18 years old) is allowed
    • NO wireless communication device while driving except to report illegal activity or to summon emergency help
    • * at least age 21
What are the laws on children and seatbelts, baby seats and boosters?

The Child Passenger Safety Act
( KSA 8-1343) is a primary law.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • · All children under age four must be in an appropriate federally-approved child safety seat.
  • · Children four years of age, but under the age of eight years must be in an appropriate federally-approved child safety seat/booster seat UNLESS the child weighs more than 80 pounds OR is taller than 4'9" in height.
  • · Children eight years of age but under the age of 14 must be protected by a safety belt.

APPLIES TO:

  • · All drivers transporting children
  • · All passenger vehicles designed for carrying 10 passengers or fewer
  • · Kansas residents and non-residents alike
  • · All seating positions in vehicle

DOES NOT APPLY TO:

  • · Vehicles on a truck chassis registered for more than 12,000 pounds
  • · Farm trucks registered for more than 16,000 pounds

OTHER PROVISIONS:

  • · Drivers may be stopped solely for a violation of this law.
    • · Only drivers may be cited for violations. The fine is $60, but will be waived if the driver provides proof of purchase or acquisition of the appropriate child passenger safety seat(s).
    • · There is no violation if the number of children being transported exceeds the number of securing locations and all securing locations are in use by children.
    • · Only a single violation exists even when more than one child in a vehicle is not properly restrained.
    • · Convictions are not considered moving violations.
    • · Persons under the age of 14 are prohibited from riding in any portion of the vehicle not intended for passengers; this includes riding in the back of pickup trucks (KSA 8-1578a).

The Kansas Safety Belt Use Act (KSA 8-2501) applies to occupants age 14 and older.

Where can I get my fingerprints done at?
The Rossville Police Dept.  Please call for appointment.  The fee is $15.00
Can I register my ATV/UTV/Golf cart?
Yes at the Rossville Police Dept.  The fee is $25.00 a year.  Must have insurance.
